Sharing Chaos Data with a Palm Pre

Palm Pre devices no longer use desktop synchronization software the way older palm devices did. Instead Palm expects you to get an online provider for your data which could be either a host offering Microsoft Exchange connectivity or Google with their online Contacts and Calendar web applications.

As a user of a Chaos Software program, both options are available to you!

1) Sync Over-The-Air with ChaosHost.com for Contacts, Calendar, and Tasks

web synchronization The best solution is to use an add-on service we offer to our users called Chaos Data Hosting. This will require an account on our ChaosHost server, where we can host a working copy of your Contacts, Appointment Calendar, Tasks and Memos databases. This data on ChaosHost.com can be synchronized with Chaos products using an option you will find is already built-in, on the File Menu, under Web Synchronization.

ChaosHost also offers the necessary Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync connectivity to allow it to transfer data directly to and from your Palm Pre device. ChaosHost can be configured as a source for your Contacts, Calendar and Tasks data on your Palm Pre, so any data on ChaosHost can be added to your device and vice-versa.

2) Sync your phone and Chaos Software with Google

As one other option to mention, Palm Pre also offers an option to use Google Calendar and Google Contacts as a data source instead of Microsoft Exchange. We do have a free tool available right now called ChaosSync for Google that can upload and synchronize your data in our software to the Google Contacts and Google Calendar web applications that Google hosts for their users.

Please keep in mind, however, that this option will not transfer Tasks information back and forth to your Palm Pre. If Tasks are important to you, you will need our ChaosHost service instead.
