We have recently released version 3.0.2.9 of Chaos Intellect and 7.0.2.9 of Time & Chaos. Besides letting you know it is available for download, we also want to highlight one of the newest features for you - Linked Contacts for Contacts!

Linked Contacts for Contacts

When you have a relationship between a few people, it can be convenient to link them to each other so you can jump to related people when you need to. When you open the details for a Contact, there is a new tab at the top for Linked Contacts:

 

When you go to this tab, it starts with a list of who is already linked with this contact. If no one is linked yet, this list will be blank! Notice that the "Show Only Linked" button on the toolbar is selected.

What can you do with Linked Contacts?

First, you can use this list to jump to other related people. If you double-click on the name of a Linked Contact, a second Contact Detail screen will open up to show you all about this related person.

Second, there is a button on the toolbar of this window for which transfers this list of names back to the main Contacts list back on the main screen. You can work with this Custom list of names as if it were a predefined group of names, then you can go to Groups and All to return back to your complete list when you have finished with the custom list.

How do you add more Linked Contacts for this Contact?

To add links to other individuals, click on the "Show All" button to see your complete list of contacts. You can check boxes for anyone else you wish to link with the contact you are working on. Notice that there are also buttons for the number of columns, to help arrange this full list of contacts in a way that best fits your screen.

How to you remove a contact from the list of Linked Contacts?

Notice that even on the "Show Only Linked", each of the Contacts has a checkbox next to their name. Removing the link between two people is simply a matter of un-checking the box!

 

What else has been added to this version?

Updates in Chaos Intellect 3.0.2.9 and Time & Chaos 7.0.2.9

• when printing notes we can now print just the selected text by choosing SELECTION (as opposed to ALL PAGES) on the print dialog box under the FILE menu.
• corrected a bug that caused the column sizing of a Single Column Phonelist to fail.
• added working shortcuts to the notes window (Alt+F, Alt+E, Alt+O, Alt+S)
• added a new printing tweak to allow envelopes and mailing labels to be printed in uppercase block letters
• added new leading and trailing date option on the monthly calendar view.  Available on right click menu.
• fixed a issue with printing a weekly calendar as columns that would produce a blank page if the Auto-expand tweak was also selected
• fixed a bug that would cause an error message at shutdown for some xp users
• added new Edit buttons on both the toolbar and right click menu of Appointments, Tasks, Memos and Contacts to allow the direct navigation to a particular tab of the record details

Updates in Chaos Intellect 3.0.2.9 only

• a new "Email Recipient" option on the Send To menu of appointments to allow the easiest method of sending a meeting invitation to one or more via email.  This feature dynamically creates and attaches a vCalendar event to the mail message.  vCalendar events should be acceptable to most contact managers and PIMs.
• message search screen now saves checkbox settings for "Search Subfolders" and "Case Sensitive"
• when exporting mail messages as .eml files, we now check for potential duplicate filenames and sequential rename then with a (1) style file name.
• deleting messages from server headers should be much quicker as screen refreshes after each deletion has been eliminated.
• improved prevention of html message pop-ups.
• fixed a bug that could be seen on some XP systems with IE 7 where an external browser window would appear randomly.

How to update your software

If you would like to update an previous version of Time & Chaos 7 or of Chaos Intellect 3, just go to the Help menu and look for "Check for newer version". Using this option, the program will check for a newer version and offer to download and install it for you.

We recommend allowing it to use the options that it wants to during install to replace your old version with the new. Any data files you have will not be affected by installing the update!
