Hello from Chaos Software Group!

We have been "sneaking" out a few updates to Chaos Intellect and Time & Chaos over the past few months that we believe you will find has many useful improvements.  In addition to letting you know it is available for download, we also want to highlight one of the newest features for you - Additional Attendees for Appointments!

Additional Attendees for Appointments

The x.0.2.9 versions added a new Linked Contacts for Contacts feature.  Taking that idea a bit further, we have added a new ability in our newest versions to indicate Additional Attendees for an event you have entered into the Appointments.

What do you do when you have a big event and need to link more than one person in your Contact List to the Appointment? Additional Attendees provides the ability to link this one appointment to many contacts and to have this event show up in the Linked Appointments for all Attendees!

When you open the details for an Appointment, the one of last tabs at the top is for Additional Attendees:

 

When you go to this tab, it starts with a list of who is already linked with this event. If no one is linked yet, this list will be blank! Notice that the "Show Only Linked" button on the toolbar is selected.

How do you add more Attendees for this Appointment?

To add links to other individuals, click on the "Show All" button to see your complete list of contacts. You can check boxes for anyone else you wish to link to this Appointment as an Additional Attendee. Notice that there are also buttons for the number of columns, to help arrange this full list of contacts in a way that best fits your screen.

How to you remove a contact from the list of Additional Attendees?

Notice that even on the "Show Only Linked", each of the Contacts has a checkbox next to their name. Removing the link between people and this Appointment is simply a matter of un-checking the box!

Can I work with this list of Contacts?

First, you can use this list to jump to other related people. If you double-click on the name of a Linked Contact, their Contact Detail screen will open up to show you all about this related person.

Second, there is a button on the toolbar of this window for which transfers this list of names back to the main Contacts list back on the main screen. You can work with this Custom list of names as if it were a predefined group of names, then you can go to Groups and All to return back to your complete list when you have finished with the custom list.
 

What else has been added?

Updates in Chaos Intellect 3.0.3.1 and Time & Chaos 7.0.3.1

• Fixed an inconsistency in saving and loading of Large or Extra Large fonts.
• Fixed a bug that prevented table text in the Memos and Lists from being saved without clicking away from the cell first.
• New appointments can now have a color automatically inherited from the group name.  It now automatically uses the last color used for that group.
• Appointment attendees are now included in the appointment details printout
• In the contacts module, we now have a choice of displaying either the custom fields or the notes of a contact record.  This setting is toggled on/off by clicking on the new note icon that appears at the top right corner of the custom fields display pad and the setting is remembered for next time.
• Fixed an issue that prevented an activity series from being scheduled if there was no linked name specified.
• Simplified the process of creating vCards by adding the function to the right click menu of a contact.
• The first appointment and task is no longer automatically selected (highlighted) when changing dates on the main screen calendar.  This prevents the contact list from highlighting the linked name (which to quote an passionate customer "made the whole program useless").

Updates in Chaos Intellect 3.0.3.1 only

• Updated spam smart filters (which are highly recommended to be turned on!)
• Some visual improvements to the file attachments were made to make Icons larger and displayed in a higher resolution.
• Added the ability to add a vCard (an electronic business card) to all outgoing messages.  The vCard is selected from within the mail account setup on a new tab (after signature).

Updates in Chaos Intellect 3.0.3.0 and Time & Chaos 7.0.3.0

• Notes printing has been fixed to have the note header and page number also print on the 1st page.
• The Import Wizard can now load and save an import map file (on the right click menu) if you are bringing in data multiple times from the same source with the same field structure.
• The Appointment Month View has been fixed to display the Cut, Copy and Paste options on the right click menu
• Improvements have been made to the highlighting of contacts when selecting appointments or tasks that are linked. If you multi-select linked appointments or tasks now ALL of the linked contacts are highlighted in the contact list. This should be very convenient for mail merging.
• A fix in Notes should help some users who would see inconsistent cursor positioning while live spelling was enabled.
• The QuickFill type ahead buffer feature on fields can now be disabled in the General Options.
• Sync with removable media now supports synchronization of Linked Contacts and Additional Attendees.
• Quick Find search results has a new right click menu option that offers the ability to "Locate Item" that will display the item in normal context with your data.  Try it! It will make good sense once you see it in action.
• Color mode printing checkbox should now work correctly to control the text color of Appointments on the monthly calendar printout
• Improved table data entry, copy, and paste functions are now available in the "Memo's and Lists" area

Updates in Chaos Intellect 3.0.3.0 only

• Fixed a critical issue that would occasionally embed a hardcoded html image path into an outgoing email message.
• Fixed a bug that prevented the splitter between the contact list and the phone numbers from being saved.
• Fixed an issue where an html message with multiple blank lines could be compressed to a single blank line.
• Fixed an issue that could cause an Assertion Error when pressing the ALT key in the HTML Editor
• Added a hotkey (numpad +) to the maximize icon (above the message preview) to allow a one-key toggle to full screen message preview.

How to update your software

If you would like to update an previous version of Time & Chaos 7 or of Chaos Intellect 3, just go to the Help menu and look for "Check for newer version". Using this option, the program will check for a newer version and offer to download and install it for you.

We recommend allowing it to use the options that it wants to during install to replace your old version with the new. Any data files you have will not be affected by installing the update!
