Tech Support Alert: Intellect vs Microsoft's Security Update to Internet Explorer

On November 11, 2014, Microsoft released a security update which breaks Intellect's ability to work with email messages.

Later on November 11, our developers released 4.0.7.0 of Intellect to work around the new challenges Microsoft has presented. If you go to our Products and Downloads page, you can download and run the 4.0.7.0 version of Intellect. This can be installed right over your previous versions so nothing needs to be uninstalled first.

If you use Intellect 3.x and use the email features, the choices available to you are to either upgrade to 4.0.7.0 (which is a free upgrade using your same license) or to roll back the offending security update from Microsoft. (If you don't use the email features, T&C 7 is exactly like Intellect 3.x but without the mail, so installing T&C 7 would be another option to consider)

If you decide to roll back the problem update from Microsoft,

Go to Control Panel
Go to the Programs section and click "View installed updates" OR go to Windows Update and look for "Installed Updates" in the See also section on the bottom left
In the section for Microsoft Windows, look for and highlight the problematic update:
Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB3003057)
Click the Uninstall link at the top.
Reboot your computer when prompted at the completion of the uninstall.

Once you restart with this update removed, Intellect 4.x (and Intellect 3.x) should be able to function again.

If you have automatic updates turned on, keep in mind that Microsoft did classify this as a critical update so it will continue to reinstall it, reintroducing the problem again.
