We offer a special cloud service for our users called ChaosHost.com to allow you to use your data from anywhere, not just one office at one location.
The information you enter into Legal Billing on one computer can be shared with the other computers your team uses. Should you need to, you can even login to our secure website from a PC or smartphone web browser or install our smartphone apps for Android and iPhone to view or edit your data from anywhere!
You need an account for our ChaosHost service. 30-Day trial accounts are available with details on ChaosHost at https://www.chaoshost.com/ . You'll also see the option at the top to request a trial account if you need one.
Using the File menu at the top left, look for Cloud Synchronization, then choose Settings.
Assuming you have your ChaosHost account setup and ready to go, you will enter your login name and your password here for your chaoshost.com account.
The checkbox for Use SSL (Secured Connection) is recommended to be checked if this is a laptop machine that is also used on public networks such as those found at airports, hotels, restaurants and coffee shops.
You also have some automatic sync options if you would like Legal Billing to stay up-to-date without needing to remember to sync it yourself, so turn on whichever of these settings seem appropriate for your situation.
There are three manual ways to tell Legal Billing to sync and update your databases.
Every time you sync, it looks for changes made on your machine and uploads them AND looks for updates made at other locations and downloads them to your machine.
It is recommended that you sync when you start and when you exit Legal Billing to make sure you have the latest data and that you have made your changes available to your other locations. If you forget to sync, not to worry. When you sync again later, it will get caught up again...
Look for our free Chaos Billing app in the Google Play Store that allows your Android to sync with ChaosHost.com to stay in full sync with your office, but be able to view, edit & invoice directly from your Android phone or tablet anywhere you go! Search for Chaos Billing or visit https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=chaos.billing
Once installed, go to the Menu button at the top right to find Settings where you can enter your ChaosHost login and password, then tap the Save button at the top.
Back on the main screen, you can use the Sync button on the toolbar to transfer data between the app and your ChaosHost account.

Once installed, go to the Settings link at the bottom where you can enter your ChaosHost login and password, then tap the Save button at the top.
The app should sync automatically after you saved your settings or when you open it. You can also pull down on the list of contacts to force a fresh sync to transfer data between the app and your ChaosHost account on demand.
After you sync your local data with our service, you can also view, edit and enter new data from our web site, even from your smartphone!

The web-based version is stripped down to just the essentials for viewing and editing items and is not a replacement for the full Legal Billing program. You'll still need to return to Legal Billing for all printing and invoicing, for example.
